A few people who have had very positive and sometimes profound influence in my life
Harold Meashey: My dad
Orpha Meashey: My mom
Kelly Meashey: My sister, great flute player, vocalist and music therapist.
Bob Meashey: My brother. When I was 6 or even younger, Bob was always playing his trumpet. He is still probably thee most powerful influence in my musical life, if for no other reason than that I was blessed to be around his music since at least the beginning of this life. I've played with quite a few well known and great musicians. Among all musicians with which I've played, Bob's music is the most egoless and beautifully pure. He is a great musician. If you get the chance listen closely with you heart.
Mike Chabitnoy : My Elementary band director, 1st private trombone teacher and church choir director. What an exceptionally fine human being!
Herb Strohman : My Junior High band director. Tom Strohman : An exceptionally fine woodwind and keyboard player who I was fortunate to know and hear early on in my life. Tom has been incredibly inspiring to me. He was also my teacher and I continue to enjoy the opportunities to play with and be around him. Sally Long : My Junior High music teacher. Jim Erdman : My friend and trombone teacher in high school and beyond. Jim had been the principal trombonist in the Marine Corp band and moved back to Lebanon when I was in 8th grade. He showed me deep emotion in music. Kathryn Heckard : My High School music teacher, choir director and friend. She was and still is so willing to help anyone who takes a sincere interest in music. Steve Leibig : Great friend and fellow trombonist all through school and after. Steve also studied with Jim Erdman so we spent many hours playing duets. Erin : My friend first, my wife. I believe that I have literally married an angel. I could not be as happy as I am if not for her positive, sweet and balanced influence on me. And that's just being around her, not anything in particular that she says or does. It's just who she is. She is always for real, always pure and honest. Honest not in words, but in her presence. Samantha, Chester & Robyn : I could write a whole page about each of these, my kids. They are wonderful as kids and even greater as my friends. Again as with Erin, my life could not be as sweet without these beautiful beings near me.
